As a surface pattern designer I'm always looking for inspiration. Sometimes that inspiration just happens in a flash and sometimes an idea comes to me when I dig through my partly finished, mostly obscure horde of images that I've tucked away in a folder somewhere in a long forgotten chamber on my hard drive (I'm an image pack-rat). Such was Guitar, and after reacquainting myself with this fun little illustration I knew immediately it was destined to become a mid century pattern. I had a lot of fun with this design - it took a bit of wild abandon and organized chaos to coordinate the shapes, color and patterns that would betoken the era. I think this design would fit perfectly in a family room or kids room or any home where there's a guitar leaning against a wall.
