While on the west coast we're seeing early signs of spring, most of us are still hunkered down waiting out the winter months. The good news is, you can get a jump on your spring and summer sewing while you stay cozy and warm inside. When I first started designing fabric patterns I had in mind to keep them versatile. What looked great as a chair covering had to work equally well for a dress or a pair of slacks. The big difference, of course, is that the fabrics vary significantly in weight, fiber content and widths for the various projects creating a distinct look whether applied to furnishings or fashion. Try one of the smooth figure-hugging knits like spun poly or peach skin jersey for the dresses and for the skinnies try a poly twill, heavy satin or even a neoprene for a really sleek and edgy form fit.
